Two Overlooked Books

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

Hello All,

I discovered tonight that I neglected to add two White Wolf role-playing game supplement books to the site when they were released.  The first came out last March (!) and it’s titled Nightstalkers (ISBN: 978-1-58846-745-4). Some of the images are below. Click to make them bigger.

The other book was called Horror Recgnition Guide (ISBN:978-1588463555)  and released (according to Amazon) last February. Can you tell I’m not often aware of when these project actually come out? What a crazy oversight. Anyways, some of the images from that project are below. And, again, click to make them bigger.

I’ve also added these images to the grayscale gaming gallery to the right.

Well, that’s it for now. I’m going to start putting my original paintings up for sale on Etsy soon. I’ll make an announcement when it happens.

Thanks!

Gallery Updates and Book Releases

Friday, October 16th, 2009

Hey Everyone,

I’ve just learned that two Shadowrun RPG books that I contributed art to have been released. The first is for the 20th Anniversary book. Last year I did a black and white illustration of a black market arms dealer for the Arsenal supplement. They asked me to do a color version for the book. Below is the original black and white next to the newly colored version.

The second book is Seattle 2072, a full color Shadowrun supplement. Below are small versions of each image. Click on them to see a bigger version.

I’ve also updated the color gallery to the right with all of these images. So you can easily find them there in the future.

More updates soon!

Thursday, August 13th, 2009

Hey All,

If you happen to be at or are going to GenCon this weekend be sure to stop by the Catalyst booth to pick up your copy of Shadowrun: Seattle 2072. It’s a new all-color title and I’ve contributed 3 images to the book.

I’m not sure when the book will hit stores but I’ll be sure to update here when it happens.

I’ll also update the galleries with the images when I can.

New White Wolf RPG Book Released

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009

Today, White Wolf Publishing released the newest gaming book for their World of Darkness line titled Slasher. I did 10 interior illustrations for the book and I’ve updated the grayscale gallery on the right with several of them.

Be warned that it is a particularly grisly book and most of the new images are not suitable for young children!

You can click the cover below for more info or to purchase at Amazon.com.

New Experiments!

Friday, November 7th, 2008

Hello All,

I’ve recently been experimenting with ways to mix the transparency of gouache with the opaqueness of oils. How could I get something like that? How about actually layering gouache with oils?!

It took a bit to figure out the best way to accomplish what I was going for. I started with watercolor paper and gouache but I had to seal the whole thing so the oil paints wouldn’t damage the paper. I tried a few things but the first ones I tried were soaking into the paper and turning cloudy, totally ruining all the painting I was doing in gouache. Eventually I stumbled upon Krylon UV-Resistant Clear Acrylic Coating. A few thin coats of that and the paper was sealed. I was free to apply the oils.

Below is my most successful result to date. It’s an unused sketch for the role-playing game Shadowrun that I decided to finish off. The technique needs some refinement but I’m pretty happy with the direction it’s going.

I’ve also uploaded it to the color gaming gallery.

I’m currently working on this year’s Christmas card with this technique. Of course, the subject matter is quite different. More on that as I finish it.
