New Gallery Shows

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

Hello All,

Two quick gallery shows to update.

The first is a pretty big Day of the Dead or, for our Spanish speaking friends, Dia de los Muertos group show opening this Saturday, October 3rd, from 6 to 9 pm at Lulubell Toy Bodega & Gallery here in good ol’ Tucson. I curated the show so if it stinks, you can blame me. I DO NOT, however, believe it will stink. I know that it is going to be amazing, so you should come out and see it. You don’t want to be the one to miss the show that all your friends are talking about, do you?

I didn’t think so.

The show will feature 12 artists from around the country putting their own personal spin on the iconography of the holiday. It’s not to be missed! The postcard for the show, featuring the work of Vicki Lázaro, is below. Feel free to share.

It’s going to be a blast.

Secondly, my painting, Baby Hates Koala, is hanging in Solar Culture Gallery’s current group show. I believe the show is called Sacred Dance. In my painting, a baby is punching a koala. Sacred dance, indeed. It’s hanging with some pretty spectacular paintings and I’m proud to be in the same company. So if you’re hanging out on Toole Ave near Stone in Tucson and want to see some good art, stop on by Solar Culture.

I also have some rather exciting art updates coming up in the next week. Be sure to stop back by to check them out.

Cheers!

Mad Science Opens This Saturday, July 11th!

Thursday, July 9th, 2009

Hello Everyone!

I’m excited to finally say that Mad Science, my gallery show with Fabian Corona and Dave Carender, is opening this Saturday. It’s taking place at Lulubell Gallery and Toy Bodega in Tucson, AZ. There’s an opening reception from 6 to 9 pm.

Below are all of my pieces for the show with descriptions and prices. If you are interested in purchasing any of the pieces contact the gallery directly at (520) 622-5858.

The first 6 images are a series I’m calling “Disaster Tourism.” They are influenced by the kinds of vintage travel postcards that would tout various tourist destinations or roadside attractions. These images also include some sort of fantastical element that is somehow ruining the intended destination.

The wall with all 6 images.
The right half of my wall contains the Disaster Tourism series.

Disaster Tourism: Vegas

Measuring 11×15 (11.25 x 15.25 including frame)

I’m participating in a three person gallery show in July along with Fabian Corona and Dave Carender. Lulubell Gallery and Toy Bodega was kind enough to organize and host the thing. Make sure you stop by on July 11th from 6 to 9 pm to tell Lulubell just how great they are for doing this. While you’re there perhaps you’d like to look at my paintings.

The postcard with all of the information is posted below.
